Experience highlights​

• Led engineering design, development, implementation, testing, commissioning and project management of control and protection system projects for hydro dams, electricity utilities, resources and manufacturing industries.​
• Led Entura’s Hydropower and Headworks Group, including multi-disciplinary teams of civil, dams, hydropower and mechanical engineers completing projects for a broad range of clients in a commercial environment.​
• Led team of design engineers and drafters delivering secondary electrical systems upgrades, including electrical design leader for design integration and implementation of secondary systems at multiple Hydro Tasmania power stations.

Over fifteen years’ experience managing small business, leading enterprise-wide operations and delivering challenging multi-disciplinary projects. A proven project manager, supported by a diverse engineering background in structural, marine, electrical, and mechanical disciplines. ​

Expertise in organisational change management, process improvement and strategic leadership. Adept at integrating technical, process, and people aspects of complex problems to turn vision and strategy into outcomes.​

Experience highlights​

• Established and led TasNetworks’ Network Business Development division, including the unregulated, large scale connection business line of Tasmania’s transmission network provider, TasNetworks. Oversaw business improvement initiatives resulting in:​
• increase in customer demand from 2 to ~40 active jobs​
• over 30% improvement in customer delivery timeframes​
• improved client satisfaction and ease of doing business.​
• Project managed the supplementary generation project, procuring and delivering 220 MW of grid connected emergency generation in Tasmania in 4 months​
• Review of supply chain and logistics for critical projects, working with suppliers and project teams to streamline production systems and scheduling methodologies to condense project timelines

Experienced commercial and project professional, with a background as a lawyer for a large electricity network business and top tier law firm Clayton Utz. Experienced in commercial management including strategy and contract negotiations for complex, high value, multi-party transactions. Established and led TasNetworks’ connections and major projects team, responsible for managing all new connections to Tasmania’s transmission network ​

Experience highlights ​

• Grid connection commercial, procurement and connection strategy advice for clean energy projects (load and generation)​
• Analysis of revenue streams, procurement strategies, risk allocation and management, corporate structure, and equity and financing arrangements for feasibility assessment of multi-billion-dollar transmission project​
• National Electricity Market regulatory advice, including rights and obligations of connection applicants under the National Electricity Rules​
• Management and coordination of grid connection and connection infrastructure development workstreams for clean energy projects (from 5-500+ megawatts)​
• Independent review of supplier proposals and contract management for infrastructure services, professional services, equipment procurement, design and construction

 Over twenty years’ experience working across various industries.  Diverse experience in the renewable energy sector, including solar (commercial to utility scale), onshore wind farms, microgrids, hydrogen systems, and zero emission transport projects.​

Capabilities include electrical and control systems engineering, project management of technically complex projects, and technical and financial modelling.​

Hands-on experience across all project phases from feasibility assessments through to detailed design, construction, commissioning, and operation and maintenance.​

Experience highlights​

• Commercial solar. Feasibility assessments, including analysis of electrical load and costs, solar modelling and system sizing, and existing electrical and building/roof condition.  Project management of solar installations.​
• Microgrid systems. Integration of solar, wind turbines, battery energy storage systems, controllable loads, and diesel generators.​
• Hydrogen projects. Stationary power and transport projects involving production, compression, storage, and end-use of hydrogen in fuel cells.​
• Battery EV projects. Technical due diligence of EV charging systems, modelling of fleet charging and load management, and assessment of electrical infrastructure and grid connection capacity.

Chartered electrical engineer, experienced in technical design, assessment and delivery of projects in the power generation, mining and oil & gas sectors. He has over 20 years of experience in designing and delivering projects in the mining and power generation sectors. ​ 

Extensive knowledge of the grid connection process within the National Electricity Market, Western Australia, UK and the Philippines, including working closely with OEM, AEMO, and various network service providers.​ 

Experience highlights​ 

• Engineering management, integration, design and commissioning for multiple 100+ MW solar and BESS projects.​ 
• Grid connection and R2 testing for multiple wind, solar and BESS projects including:​ 
• Undertaking and reviewing grid connection studies using PSS/E, PSCAD and Digsilent’s PowerFactory​ 
• Connection application preparation​ 
• Grid compliance assessment testing and compliance monitoring.​ 
• Design, maintenance, testing and commissioning work for hydro power plants, wind and hybrid generation plants.​ 
• Testing and commissioning for smelter and associated equipment.
