An interconnector outage during a drought left Tasmania at risk of energy supply shortages. A member of our team was project manager for the supplementary generation project, including:
- establishing project management structures that could respond rapidly to changing circumstances
- optimising schedule and scope
- strategy for complex stakeholder management.
Outcomes delivered:
- Delivery of 220 MW of grid-connected diesel generation across seven sites within four months.

Watts Advisory developed and implemented a transmission and grid connection strategy for a green fuels project and supported preparation of the application for a Hydrogen Headstart grant.
Outcomes delivered:
- Project shortlisted for up to $2bn Hydrogen Headstart funding
- Developed tailored commercial, technical and regulatory compliance strategies for workstream
- Term sheet and letter of support negotiated with key transmission network and government stakeholders

We have supported developers exploring wind, solar, pumped hydro and other storage projects with advice about NSW Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) access scheme requirements, government funding requirements and bid planning support.
Outcomes delivered:
- Strong understanding of government requirements and drivers
- Project plans and schedules updated to ensure timely availability of application inputs
- To date, one project has been awarded feasibility funding in a competitive process
